This week for a fun change of pace you can dress up Pristina in her royal gowns! There are simple ones for a child to color, and fancier versions for those whose motor skills are more advanced. 🙂 I had a great time researching patterns and dress styles when I was illustrating Princess Pristina, and was disappointed I couldn’t use all of the dress designs I came up with. I thought this would be a fun way to use them afterall, and give you something fun to do with the little princess-lover in your life.
TIP: You’ll need to print the paper doll sheet on heavier paper so that it can stand up. If you don’t have any cardstock or photo paper on hand, you can simply glue the doll to a firm paper like a piece of cardboard or an old manila folder and then cut it out.
If you’ve not done paper dolls before, all you have to do is cut out each dress and the doll and stand, then color and assemble. Cut slits on the lines in the doll and the stand piece, then slide the slots into each other as shown in the picture. You can attach the dresses to Pristina by folding the tabs on the sleeves over her arms.
While I was drawing I was thinking about how in the Bible our new life in Jesus is compared to putting on new clothing. Colossians 3:12-14 says
So, as those who have been chosen of God, holy and beloved, put on a heart of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience; bearing with one another, and forgiving each other, whoever has a complaint against anyone; just as the Lord forgave you, so also should you. Beyond all these things put on love, which is the perfect bond of unity.
And Romans 13:14 says
But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh in regard to its lusts.
Before we knew Jesus, our hearts were only full of rotten things and sin. But when we trusted in Jesus to save us, He put His own Spirit in our heart. And His Spirit is always good. When we decide to follow His prompting in our hearts, He will fill our hearts with love and lead us to do good things. But we can still choose to follow our old bad ways. We have a choice of what to “wear” every day! We have to choose to “put on Jesus” by following the Spirit rather than our selfish desires.
